This service includes innovative sourcing, negotiation, agreements, technology and program performance solutions to meet business challenges. The Travel Department is responsible for negotiating, implementing and monitoring air, car, hotel and agency programs for the benefit of C4S travelers, working with other General Dynamics businesses to consolidate and leverage spend where appropriate. Specific responsibilities include: Analyzing agency, supplier, and corporate card data to ensure compliance with existing travel programs, identify savings opportunities, and create processes that improve the business travel experience. Responsibility for delivering category management services including, but not limited to, strategic sourcing, client stakeholder management, supplier performance management, and continuous cost and performance improvement. Ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of travel technologies and services that support General Dynamics’ business travel policy. Resolve quality and charging issues on behalf of internal customers with suppliers. Prepare and disseminate requests for proposals/quotations, statements of work and facilitate procurement meetings between suppliers and internal personnel. Evaluate proposals, negotiate contractual and business terms and award purchase orders. Prepare and administer complex purchase orders of a significant dollar value in an efficient manner. Serve as the focal point for all supplier requirements and manage supplier relationships. Resolve delivery, payment and return issues. Provide basic mentoring to junior colleagues.
Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience plus 5 years related experience
Travel industry experience that includes knowledge of various Global Distribution Systems, online booking tools, and travel reporting databases. Knowledge of Microsoft Access or other database applications critical. Familiarity with airline, hotel, and rental car contracting procedures and administration. Proficiency with advanced database applications. Continuously enhance functionality and controls in online booking tool. Apply analytical skills to data to continuously reduce travel TCO. Provide relevant and timely travel data analytics to key internal stakeholders. Ensure high quality travel management company customer service, policy enforcement, and data entry integrity by monitoring performance against SLAs and identifying agent training opportunities. Work with a high degree of independence, solving complex problems in a fast paced, demanding environment. Effective at interfacing with supplier personnel (including sales people, all levels of management and legal counsel), and GD internal customers, including upper management. Certified Meeting Planner designation desirable. Excellent writing, PC and public speaking skills required. Ability to work with a high degree of independence, solving complex problems, in a fast-paced, demanding environment required. Applicant must be a US Citizen.

American Express Corporate Travel provides global, integrated solutions both online and off-line to help corporations manage and optimize their travel spend/investment through process savings, purchasing savings and experience whenever they need it; across the world directly or through partnership. The Manager of Business Development (MBD), Middle Market Direct, will be responsible for the generation of new sales, cross selling and client retention in the Middle Market Direct Segment which specializes in accounts with 700K-3M in air volume. The candidate must also have experience in global vision, knowledge of technology solutions, have strong industry reputation and knowledge of the specific client base in order to sell client-specific solutions, The Manager, Business Development, Middle Market Direct will set the strategic direction for bids and will participate in key customer strategy and negotiations that will yield top-line growth for Corporate Travel Sales long with driving the sales cycle. The Manager, Business Development needs to build and maintain relationsihps with key internal stakeholders, along with building and developing senior level client contacts to work and contribute in a team approach. Additional duties include the participation and relationship building in procurement tradeshows, business travel forums, etc.
